Cats’ preference for lying in the shade

Cats are known for their love of lounging around, but have you ever noticed how they always seem to seek out the perfect spot in the shade? Whether it’s a sunny day or a cozy corner indoors, our feline friends have a natural instinct for finding the coolest and most comfortable place to relax.

This behavior actually has a lot to do with their wild ancestors. In the wild, cats would seek out shaded areas to protect themselves from the heat of the sun and to stay hidden from potential predators. Even though our domesticated cats may not face the same dangers, this instinctual behavior is still deeply ingrained in their DNA.

So, the next time you see your cat curled up in a shady spot, remember that they are simply following their natural instincts. Providing plenty of shady areas for your cat to lounge in can help them stay cool and comfortable, especially during the hot summer months.
